{"id":4842,"date":"2018-06-02T09:22:02","date_gmt":"2018-06-02T05:52:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madan24.com\/en\/?p=4842"},"modified":"2018-06-02T09:22:02","modified_gmt":"2018-06-02T05:52:02","slug":"iranian-export-prices-for-slab-billet-soften-amid-looming-sanctions-iranian-export-slab-prices-fell-slightly-in-the-week-ended-wednesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/madanbidar.ir\/en\/2018\/06\/02\/iranian-export-prices-for-slab-billet-soften-amid-looming-sanctions-iranian-export-slab-prices-fell-slightly-in-the-week-ended-wednesday\/","title":{"rendered":"Iranian export prices for slab, billet soften amid looming sanctions Iranian export slab prices fell slightly in the week ended Wednesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Iranian export prices for slab, billet soften amid looming sanctions<br \/>\nIranian export slab prices fell slightly in the week ended Wednesday<br \/>\nMay 30, with customers achieving lower prices in recent bookings.<br \/>\nMetal Bulletin\u2019s weekly price assessment for Iranian slab exports<br \/>\ndropped by $5 per tonne week on week on May 30, to $505-510 per<br \/>\ntonne fob.<br \/>\nA cargo of Iranian slab for shipment in July was reported to have<br \/>\nbeen booked by customers in Southeast Asia within that price range.<br \/>\nRecent export slab offers from Iranian mills were heard at $510<br \/>\nper tonne fob.<br \/>\nBut customers from Southeast Asia have voiced concerns about<br \/>\nthe future of semi-finished steel imports from Iran, in view of the<br \/>\nexpectation of renewed United States trading sanctions on the<br \/>\nMiddle Eastern country.<br \/>\nThe US withdrew from an international deal on Iran\u2019s nuclear<br \/>\npower industry on May 8, and said that it would reimpose its trading<br \/>\nsanctions against the country within 90 days.<br \/>\nCustomers in Southeast Asia expressed their willingness to<br \/>\ncontinue to trade with the country, considering that Iranian prices<br \/>\nare traditionally $10-20 per tonne lower than for materials of other<br \/>\norigins.<br \/>\n\u201cWe\u2019ve been buying Iranian material using currencies other than<br \/>\nthe US dollar and we do not have any connections with the US,\u201d a<br \/>\nsource in Indonesia said, noting that he plans to continue to buy<br \/>\nfrom Iran.<br \/>\nAnother source noted, however, that it is not banking, but<br \/>\nshipping issues that may become a hurdle to trade with Iran since large global shipping companies have already started to fold<br \/>\noperations in the country. The US provided shipping companies 120<br \/>\ndays to finalize operations with Iran.<br \/>\n\u201cI do not think any international shipping company will be able to<br \/>\nconduct business with Iran if sanctions are implemented to their full<br \/>\nextent,\u201d Soren Skou, the chief executive of world\u2019s largest shipping<br \/>\ncompany, Maersk, was quoted as saying by the Wall Street Journal.<br \/>\nFor steel billet, Metal Bulletin\u2019s assessment of export prices for<br \/>\nIranian product narrowed by $5 per tonne on the upper end on the<br \/>\nweek, to $500-510 per tonne fob.<br \/>\nThe few offers heard from Iranian mills this week for<br \/>\nJuly-shipment billet fell in the range of $510-515 per tonne fob.
